Christ Care Unit Missionary Baptist Church was organized on June 14, 1981 at 19 Pritchard Lane in Sicklerville, in the home of it’s pastor and founder, Dr. Robert F. Hargrove, Sr. The Church’s name is based upon 1 Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” The Church’s mission is to fulfill the Great Commission according to Matthew 28:19-20, and also to proclaim that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone.
Reverend Hargrove accepted the challenge to establish a church in this area. The church’s first mission is to preach the Christian Gospel of Salvation of Jesus Christ. At the first service, the Lord blessed and eleven people joined the membership of CCU. On June 21, 1981, the Church moved to Winslow Twp. School #3 and services were there until October 11, 1981. The Church then moved to the Sicklerville United Methodist Church building on Church Road. In December of 1981, a charter was granted to CCU by the Township of Winslow and the State of New Jersey, recognizing the Church as a non-profit organization.
In 1985, 4.9 acres of land was purchased on Sicklerville and Grimes Road. A bond program to finance the building project was instituted by the officers and members on August 11, 1986. Over the next 14 months, $230,000 in bonds was sold. The Lord blessed and with the completion of the new building project the first service was held on February 14, 1988. The tremendous growth in membership made it necessary to expand our present facility. In February 1997, we moved into our expansion with eight administrative offices and 6 classrooms.
